One reality, many real experiences

There is no outside to reality. Whatever exists belongs to the same totality, even when its forms are sharply different. This is the sense in which reality or being is one.

The claim concerns dependence. Nothing exists through itself alone. A tree depends on soil and climate. A person depends on a living body and a social world. Each has its own integrity within relations that make it possible.

Priority monism

Priority monism says that the whole is fundamental. Its parts are real, though their existence and character depend upon the whole. Reality is not assembled from fully independent units. The units are already expressions of a wider order.

This differs from existence monism, the idea that only one concrete thing exists. I do not think people or objects must be reduced to unreal appearances. Their boundaries can be relative while their effects remain real.

Why the distinction matters

If every distinction is dismissed as illusion, responsibility becomes difficult to articulate. Harm can be minimised because the harmed person is treated as ultimately unreal. A world-affirming nonduality cannot accept that conclusion.

The unity of reality gives every local event a wider context. It does not cancel local consequences. Care matters precisely because each being is a way the whole exists here.

Consciousness within reality

Consciousness is one remarkable development within the whole. It emerges where living processes become capable of feeling and orientation. This view does not place awareness outside nature or beneath it as a hidden foundation.

Experience is how part of reality becomes present to itself through a living being. The event is real without needing to be the substance of the cosmos.

A lived implication

Notice how little of this moment is self-produced. Breath arrives through an atmosphere you did not create. Language comes through other people. Your life is distinct, yet it is composed through belonging.

Priority monism turns nonduality toward participation. We are not separate from reality, and we are not erased by it.
